if you turn left here
life as you know it will end.
it’s a one-way street, exit only.
who knows where it leads?.......
a wormhole off the highway, a point of no return.

you could go straight along the course
directed by the forces around you,
your destination proscribed in huge block letters,
firm arrows pointing the way….
nothing left to the imagination,
five miles over the limit like all the rest,
a deadly dash between points of safety…..

the wormholes fly by, receding lights in the night, population unknown.
a lingering rear view and you are second-guessing:
the road ahead or something else?
