If I Went To Paris
(Jack Kennedy)
If I Went To Paris
If I went to Paris, would she come to me?
Would we sit at a table where we touch knee to knee?
Would we order hors-d-oeuvres flown in fresh from the sea ?
If I went to Paris, would she come to me?
If I fell for Paris, si j’ai tombé aujourdhi
With a touch of her hand would she set my heart free?
Would she capture my soul by a fait accompli?
If I fell for Paris, would she fall for me?
If I fell for Paris would I feel so elated?
Would the words in my heart ever need be translated?
Would we walk “sur la Seine” so in love hand-in-hand?
Would my meaning be clear? Would Paris understand?
If I dreamed of Paris, would she dream of me
as a prince or a pauper or petite bourgeoisie?
Would she tell me she dreams she is always “ici”?
If I dreamed of Paris, would she dream of me?
If I went to Paris, si j’allais a Paris
Will she know what I mean when I say “ma cherie”
Will it fill her with passion or “avec ennuie”?
If I went to Paris, would she come to me?
If I fell for Paris would I feel so elated?
Would the words in my heart ever need be translated?
Would we walk “sur la Seine” so in love hand-in-hand?
Would my meaning be clear? Would Paris understand?
If I went to Paris, would she come to me?
Would we sit side by side with our congac and brie?
Would it be the beginning or “le grand fini”?
If I went to Paris, would she come to me?
