Jack Kennedy: Music

Honky Tonk Haiku

(Jack Kennedy)
My friend Diccon Lee sends me inspirational stuff that, amazingly enough, inspired me one day..........
Honkytonk Haiku

You were my sunshine, my afternoon delight
Without you, I’m just a dog without a bite
You left me just when things were going right
And now a day without the sunshine is like …night.

You were my cowgirl and I was your gunslinger
But not for long, for you turned into a swinger
On one hand I thought your love would linger
On the other hand I saw your middle finger.

I have been low, but this is the lowest
“he who laughs last is thinking the slowest”
This bit of advice is now etched in my brain:
“if life is coming my way, then I’m in the wrong lane”

You made me love you like a rooster loves a hen,
You made me jealous when you talked with other men,
scared me half to death when you told me where you’d been
then you scared the other half and left me once again.

I have been low, but this is the lowest
“he who laughs last is thinking the slowest”
This bit of advice is now etched in my brain:
“if life is coming my way, then I’m in the wrong lane”

You were my sunshine, my afternoon delight
Without you, I’m just a dog without a bite
You left me just when things were going right
And now a day without the sunshine is like …night.

And now a day without the sunshine is like …night.
