Winter Rain
(Jack Kennedy)
Winter Rain
A winter rain in the middle of the day
it’s gonna be cold tonight
but that’s how it’s been since you went your way
it feels like winter rain.
Nothing I do seems to cut the chill
the coffee I’ve been drinking barely keeps me warm
takes a lot more heat when you’re over the hill
it feels like winter rain.
It’s not just you, my friend,
everyone I know has somewhere else to be
I’m in no mood to chase them down
I’ll buy another cup and keep me company.
A winter rain in the middle of the day
not a good one to be out and about
Though not a clue of what was headed my way
no second guessing how it all turned out
I’ll ask the waitress to warm my cup
I’ll watch the daylight begin to wane
must be the coffee that’s keeping me up
it feels like winter rain.
It’s not just you, my friend,
everyone I know has somewhere else to be
I’m in no mood to chase them down
I’ll buy another cup and keep me company.
A winter rain in the middle of the day
it’s gonna be cold tonight
but that’s how it’s been since you went your way
it feels like winter rain.
